REVIEW: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15

After reading about the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15, I had to see for myself what the fuss was all about. Now that I’m on my primer kick, I’m curious about what’s out there and what really works. For me, applying primer is optional; but, when it’s nearly 100 degrees outside with like 80% humidity, having a great primer is like striking gold.

This primer is marketed as “a mineral-based, water-resistant primer with SPF 15 that neutralizes the skin, minimizes shine, and creates a smooth, uniform canvas for flawless makeup application.” It’s watery and light in weight and texture. It disappears and absorbs upon contact, leaving behind a silky, smooth, and even finish. This “clean, satin-finish formula helps keep makeup looking fresh and prevents fading,” and also “absorbs excess oils and minimizes the appearance of pores by evenly distributing light to help hide and soften skin imperfections and fine lines.”

I picked the travel size version to try out. And, luckily, I really love it and believe that it’s totally worth the price tag for the full size. For right now, this is great for traveling. I like primers that work double duty — meaning, I can wear it alone and wear it underneath foundation/BB creams. This does just that — evening and smoothing out my skin beautifully. It’s not oily and not drying. It feels clean and light on the skin — which is the best option for the summer time.
