REVIEW: Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer

Today’s post is about the highly acclaimed and widely popular Clé de Peau Beauté concealer – and, yes, believe the hype.

Clé de Peau Beauté is the high-end extension of the Shiseido brand and as you all probably know – this range is obscenely expensive. For me, personally, it wasn’t the price that was my primary concern – it was questioning if the product was truly worth the price. But at the end of the day, is any beauty product we purchase really worth the price? Let’s not go there. :)

At any rate, I purchased this concealer because I finally caved and clearly, I had lost my mind, lol. A teeny tiny part of me wanted to not like this product because of the price; however, for all of us who do our product homework before purchasing – it’s no lie that this concealer has been getting rave reviews since the beginning of time. And, I’m here to enable you further because this product performs.

When I say believe the hype, I mean it. The packaging is what you would expect from a high-end brand and that’s important to me (as I know it’s important to many of you as well). The dark ocean blue packaging is sleek and the glossy tube is shiny and has good weight to it. A minor detail that I’d like to address is the swivel mechanism, which is smooth and doesn’t get stuck. Nothing annoys me more than twisting the product up and having it get stuck.

My shade is Ivory and it works well for any pigmentation issues I may have. According to my research, this concealer is a fave among those who suffer from dark circles and discoloration around the eyes. For me, I use this on pigmentation on my face and redness and it’s perfect.

The product’s claims:
– Enhanced with Revitalizing Moisture Complex to lock in moisture and smooth out texture.
– Blends sublimely to expertly conceal dark circles, spots and imperfections.
– High-performance powders ensure flawless skin in any light, providing maximum coverage with a smooth, even finish that does not crease.

Despite the concealer’s thick-looking texture, it’s moisturizing and applies smoothly. It’s SO pigmented and a little goes a long, long way. This isn’t the kind of product you carelessly swipe all over your face and blend away; in fact, that’s a waste of product because you need so little. Personally, I’ve found it better to swipe the concealer one time directly onto my index finger and then lightly dab onto the areas that need coverage. I tap the product in to blend it and then repeat the process if needbe.

Truthfully, for the most part, with this concealer I don’t even need to bother with foundation. Any redness and post-hyperpigmentation is canceled out immediately, the coverage is full and opaque, and it doesn’t dry, flake, or cake after application. Lightly powder over for all-day lasting power.

You get 5 grams (0.17 oz) of product for $70 + tax so it’s obviously a product that you need to try and test before shelling out money. The box indicates the concealer is good for 24 months so that makes me feel slightly better. I recommend this product but there’s plenty of concealers I love (Chanel and MAC) that are more reasonabley priced.

Available in 4 colors.
Retails for $70.00.
