Current Face Routine

Lately, I’ve been going for a more no-makeup kind of look because the weather has been warmer and I haven’t been inspired by any foundations as of late. When I feel like I’m stuck in a rut, I normally don’t do a whole lot makeup-wise and I prefer to keep things simple. However, even with downsizing the amount of products I’ll apply, maintaining my skin is still a priority. In the name of keeping things simple, I used very minimal products (not pictured: eyebrow pencil and mascara).

Rachel K CC Cream Renew
As a sun protectant and a product for evening my skintone, I refer to the Rachel K CC Cream Renew to save me time. I like multi-functional products like this to cut down on the amount of products I apply. And, since CC creams act like skincare, it’s great to know I’m not piling loads of product on when it’s so warm outside. With this, redness, pigmentation, and pores are instantly blurred — and, with decent oil control — it’s very low-maintenance throughout the day. Thus far, this is my favorite CC cream.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder
Normally, I skip on powders but I’ve been really into my Ambient Lighting Powder in “Ethereal Glow” lately. It’s a “opalescent sheer, cool white powder” that doesn’t cover the glow of the CC cream; and, it brightens my skin without looking white or chalky. Described as a “sheer, cool tone that eliminates shine [that] mimics a moonlit glow,” I love this powder for being light and fluffy.

MAC blush in “Lovecloud”
After wandering around and experimenting with other blushes, I’m back to my MAC blushes this week. I recently picked up a new shade called “Lovecloud” and it’s such a fun, bright mid-tone pink that’s flattering and great for the warm weather. It’s pigmented so a light hand is all you need; and, it seems to last super long on my skin which is an added bonus.

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush & Real Techniques Blush Brush
My go-to brushes are the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush for base makeup and the Real Techniques Blush Brush for my powder. They’re easy makeup brushes to use that are low-maintenance. I’ve got multiple RT brushes on hand, and it helps that they’re easily accessible and so affordable. The Expert Face Brush is simply great for BB creams, CC creams, and foundations; and, they’re great for applying cream blushes as well.

What’s your current face routine?

Face of the Day feat. NARS Cream Eyeshadow in “Mykonos” + Innisfree Mineral Melting BB Cushion Compact

Another face of the day post — but this time, with a little twist. Today’s post will feature a cream shadow and a cushion compact — both products are new to me (as are the concepts of these products). Now that the weather is getting warmer, I’m really into trying to use brighter and season-friendly shades. Still, a bright and dewy complexion is a requirement for my daily needs/look and I’m happy to have found a cream eyeshadow that I’m really enjoying as well.

Sunkiller Perfect Water Essence Sunblock (from eBay)
I’m really enjoying essence sunscreens. While they’re not as watery as traditional Japanese sunscreens, the essence sunscreens dry super fast on the skin and also dry matte. In my experience, oil-control seems to be much better with these kinds of sun products.

MAC Cremesheen + Pearl Lipstick in “Sunny Seoul”
Yes, in part, I was drawn to this lipstick shade because of its name “Sunny Seoul” and reference to my native country/birthplace. LOL. But the color itself is really pretty, too. The bright pop of pink is flattering yet not scary bright. It’s a great spring shade and pairs well with neutral eye makeup as well. I like that this color is wearable, and this shade is as daring as I will get!

Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in “Something About Berry”
Not a totally necessary product, but still a great-performing and long-lasting blush nonetheless. Despite its bulky packaging, the bright pink shade is a great mix of mauve pink, golden peach, and magenta all rolled into one. This blush is shimmery but I don’t mind. It’s got cute packaging too so this product is a win-win for me!

NARS Cream Eyeshadow in “Mykonos”
Normally, I’m not a fan of cream eyeshadows. But I was recently drawn to the shade “Mykonos,” and found a blog post by Sandra when I was doing some research. It’s a great color to use on its own and to use as a base. I had to hunt this shade down so I’m not sure if it will soon be discontinued. It’s definitely a must-have and the cream eyeshadows by NARS are definitely worth looking further into. Their cream shadows include “shades that are balanced in a lightweight texture, [and are] transparent in application.”

Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in “Soft Brunette”
This brow pencil combines the benefits and technique of a powder, pencil, and wax and is my newest eyebrow obsession and favorite product as of right now. The shade “Soft Brunette” is perfect for me — a warm, medium dark brown that isn’t too stark and isn’t orange or beige in undertone. It applies smoothly and doesn’t skip when applying — even when I’m filling in gaps. The waxiness of the product is just right for the areas where I’ve got more brow hairs. It really is a “revolutionary pencil [that] combines all of the benefits and technique of various brow formulas to create the look of naturally fuller, multidimensional, defined brows in one easy step.”

Garnier Skin Renew Anti Dark Circle Eye Roller
This is a great eye product for when you’re on the go. It’s also multi-functioning, which is great since you can get some coverage and eye care benefits all in one. Swipe the product under the eyes from the inner corner to the outer corner and blend. The metal rolling ball is soothing and cooling so the product is nice to apply.

Innisfree Mineral Melting BB Cushion Compact in “1 Pink Beige”
Cushion compacts are all the rage currently, and is a major trend in Asia now. Right now I’m using the Innisfree Mineral Melting BB Cushion Compact, which you can order via eBay and have it shipped directly from South Korea. I will most likely do a post committed to cushion compacts in the very near future, but it’s really the concept that’s different, not the formula. I’m basically using a BB cream but it comes in a compact form rather than a tube; and, really, the application is much better with the included sponge/applicator. That’s really the only difference!

What have you been incorporating in your makeup routine lately?

Makeup In a Hurry

Not too long ago, one of my favorite beauty bloggers, Essiebutton, wrote a blog post featuring In-A-Hurry Products. I was inspired by her post and found myself slapping products onto my face when I was running late a few days ago. I found that it’s better to be a little late than to arrive looking disheveled, lol — so, I needed quick, easy to use products that were already tested and known for its reliability. My on-the-go and in-a-hurry products are multi-functional, so keep that in mind when you’re in a rush as well!

Maybelline New York Baby Skin Instant Pink Transformer + Kiss Me Heroine Make Mineral White BB Cream
First things first — and, that’s base makeup. For me, looking “put together” — even in a hurry — means polished skin, some color on the cheeks and lips, and definitely some good mascara. Base makeup consist of another one of ChefCaffy’s favorites — the Maybelline New York Baby Skin Instant Pink Transformer paired with the Kiss Me Heroine Make Mineral White BB Cream. ChefCaffy has stated that the Asia version of the Maybelline Baby Skin primer is a dupe for the CHANEL Le Blanc Light Revealing Brightening Makeup Base. With its pink-toned base, it brightens up the complexion, conceals pores, and evens pigmentation. Applying anything else on top is a breeze!

YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch
For some help with the under-eye area, as usual, I just swipe on the YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch and quickly blend it in. Since I’m skipping a highlighter on the face (due to time), I also use this product along my cheek bones, down the bridge of my nose, and around the mouth area/smile lines for extra brightening. I don’t like to powder over the prettiness, so I just skip it.

Illamasqua Cream Blusher in “Promise”
Cream blush is a must when you’re in a hurry. And, the best cream blush formula is Illamasqua’s. Just a few swipes of this with a synthetic buffing brush and you’re all ready to go! The color “Promise” is flattering, brightening, and super easy to use. It’s a shame that it seems like Sephora won’t be carrying the range eventually.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in “Sheer Berry”
For on-the-go, a multi-functioning lip product is a must — so hydration + color is important. I keep Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments around all over the place for such occasions; but, recently, the shade “Sheer Berry” has really been one of my favorites. When I’m in the mood, I’ll switch things up and use one of the Revlon Color Burst Lip Butters for the same effect!

I think that moments like this when you’re in a hurry, you tend to gravitate towards products that are good for a reason. This is a great way to really know how products work — simply because you can’t afford to waste time on “testing” things out when you’re in a rush. Reliable and easy products are always an important part of a morning routine, so hopefully this post has helped put into perspective what my go-to items have been! What about you?

Face of the Day Using Asian Drugstore Products

I’m a big fan of Asian beauty products; but, specifically the “drugstore” items from overseas are my favorite. Since I regularly keep up with Korean beauty blogs and beauty shows, I’m often easily persuaded to get a hold of these products. By far, Japanese products are my favorite.

The Face Shop is a well-known Korean brand that has slowly made its way into the US market. While nearly all of these items are purchased from trusted eBay stores, The Face Shop has its own stores in California, New York, and Texas (and probably other areas as well). The Angel Skin Foundation is layered over the Biore UV Perfect Face Milk SPF 50 sunscreen. As with many Korean foundations, the Angel Skin Foundation promises young-looking baby skin, while covering up skin imperfections naturally. My newest powder addition to my collection is the Heroine Make Smooth Cover Powder. Currently, this powder is widely popular in Asia and I purchased it via eBay based on recommendations from ChefCaffy from YouTube. She mentions this powder twice here in her new products video, and again here (providing more info/detail about the powder).

Canmake is a Japanese brand I’m very fond of for product quality and affordable prices. The blushes by Canmake are some of my favorites. This blush is long-lasting, comes with its own highlighter, and is a fun pink shade. While the shade itself isn’t unique, I enjoy the formulation/texture of the blush and its compact size. Canmake’s Highlight & Retouch Concealer UV is perfect for under the eyes and other areas of the face that has natural shadows. While coverage is minimal, the brightening effects and powdery finish is superb. For additional concealing, I’ve used the Candy Doll Concealer — which I write more about in last month’s face of the day post.

For lips, I’ve been keeping it simple since my lips have been chapped beyond belief the last week or so. While I’m a big fan of “fancy lip balms,” such as the La Mer lip balm, the Ditptyque Soothing Lip Balm, and the Dior Crème de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm — I’ve been using a random Japanese chapstick during the day to keep my lips hydrated and protected from the wind and cold weather. Tony Moly is another Korean brand and I’ve only been dabbling in this brand. The Party Lover Coloring Browcara is a brow product that I find just okay — I’m not entirely happy with it because it doesn’t seem to really deposit much color onto my brow hairs. I’m only using it right now because I waited a month for this product to arrive, lol.

What are you enjoying in your daily routine?

Face of the Day for Gloomy Winter Weather

Now that Texas has transitioned into winter-mode, I’ve seen more gloomy and cloudy days here the last few weeks. It’s hard to feel inspired when it’s cold outside and it gets dark earlier, but I try to keep things interesting by adding some glow to my complexion. For me, I “shopped my stash” and put some items back into rotation like my NARS Illuminator and Bobbi Brown BB Cream.

NARS Illuminator in “Copacabana” and Bobbi Brown BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 35 in Extra Light
Mixing the NARS Illuminator in “Copacabana” with the Bobbi Brown BB Cream gave me the perfect amount of both coverage and dewiness, without risking looking glittery or oily/shiny. I forgot about how much I really loved the Bobbi Brown BB Cream, so it was nice falling back in love with it.

Dior Addict Lipstick in “Diorissime” 249
The Dior Addict Lipstick in “Diorissime” isn’t a new product and I recently reviewed it as well. However, the subtle brightness is perfect for gloomy days because it reminds me that at least my lips feel and look pretty, lol. Even when I wear this without lip balm underneath, I have perfectly hydrated lips in the winter so that’s one less thing to worry about.

MAC Powder Blush in “Pink Swoon”
Occasionally, I’ll take a break from MAC’s “Well Dressed” and I venture off and try a different shade of blush. “Pink Swoon” has been a recent favorite of mine and goes really well with the Dior Addict Lipstick in “Diorissime” — the perfect amount of brightness and subtleness. I tend to reach for this blush when I need something a little different and interesting.

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
My trusty Real Techniques Expert Face Brush is great for applying any base product. The Bobbi Brown BB Cream is very creamy and a small dollop goes a long ways. The Expert Face Brush blends the product out beautifully and seamlessly within seconds, which is perfect for busy mornings when I can’t be bothered.

What are you wearing this winter? What about on gloomy days?

Face of the Week (using powder foundation)

This week I decided to forgo the liquid bases and put my powder foundations back in rotation. One of these days, I’ll do a post about only powder foundations including my favorites; however, for now, I’ll just feature my favorite PF of all time: the Chantecaille Compact Makeup Foundation.

Benefit POREfessional
I started off with priming with Benefit POREfessional to cover pores and control oil production. I find that it’s important to have a smooth and perfected surface before applying powder foundation so that it has something to stick to. Read more about it in my reviews here and here.

Candy Doll Concealer
I’ve been really into my new Candy Doll Concealer in shade 01, because it’s no surprise I’m a huge fan of Japanese cosmetics in general. This shade is perfect for my fair-pinky skin and the pigmentation and coverage is insane. I ordered mine through eBay and have had no issues. I like this concealer better than the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and the Chanel Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer.

Chantecaille Compact Makeup Foundation
After primer and concealer, I buffed on the Chantecaille Compact Makeup Foundation with a large powder brush. This is great for oil-control and evening out the skin tone. And, since the powder is so finely milled, it doesn’t take any extra work to help this product look good on the skin. It sets instantly without looking too matte or flat and stays looking good all day. When I’m in the mood for PF’s, I turn to this one first.

Tony Moly Cristal Blush in 03 “Pleasure Peach”
Tony Moly is a Korean brand that I’ve been playing around with. This brand is in the same price range as Etude House, Face Shop, and Skinfood (among others). I came across “Pleasure Peach” when I was reading Korean beauty blogs and ordered mine on eBay. It’s not a new and unique color and there’s plenty of shades out there like this, so technically, it’s nothing to write home about. However, I like the formula — even though it’s a powder blush, it looks and feels creamy.

Benefit High Beam
For some added highlighting, I lightly dabbed Benefit High Beam along my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose. Normally, I’d advise against applying liquid highlighter after PF application, but the formulas work well for each other despite one being powder. Plus, Benefit High Beam has a pinky glow that I love and I’ll use it no matter what!

Diptyque Soothing Lip Balm
I recently featured the Diptyque Soothing Lip Balm in a recent post, and I’m still loving it and using it every day — day and night. For lips, I layered on this lip balm before adding Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in “Instinct” over on top. The pretty wash of moisturizing color is my idea of perfection. :)

Face of the Week — feat. the Shiseido Sheer & Perfect Foundation

Just a quick face of the week/day post here — it’s been cloudy and rainy for a few days here, and I felt inspired to work on adding some glow to my makeup routine. Recently, I got a sample of the Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer in #2, and I’m itching to get the full size. This was all the glow I needed while the weather in Texas transitions to fall.

Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Spray
To prep my skin for another dreary day, I sprayed the Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Spray onto my skin and patted it in. It’s marketed as a product that “contains the first patented, stabilized form of topical vitamin B6, which absorbs oil, minimizes pores and reduces redness.” Surprisingly, it calmed down my dry and irritated skin from the weather change; and, kept my skin looking and feeling happy throughout the day. I also sprayed it over my base makeup and I was pleased with the results.

Shiseido Sheer & Perfect Foundation & Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer in #2
I mixed equal parts foundation + the fluid sheer and applied it to my face using the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. The Fluid Sheers adds an “illuminating veil of radiance” that’s subtle, but makes a big impact on the overall look of your skin. This “unique, translucent formula is available in a range of versatile hues including makeup base shades, correcting shades, and radiance boosting shades.” #2 is perfect for adding luminosity, dewiness, and radiance without looking like a pageant queen, for sure.

Illamasqua Powder Blusher in “Katie” & the MAC 129 Blush Brush
Because I was having a lucky day and I could skip concealer, I went onto blush. I was in the mood for a super-pink blush to add onto the glowy base, so I opted for “Katie” and applied it with the MAC 129 Blush Brush. I’ve had this brush for nearly 10 years and it’s still going strong with proper care. It’s the brush I reach for the most when applying blush.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, Shiseido Nourishing Mascara Base, & Fasio Hyper-Stay Mascara Magne-Plus Curl Long Mascara
Eye routine was kept simple, but I needed to secure the lashes. I used the KOJI lash curler for awhile and now I’m back to my Shu Uemura curler. It’s still the best and worth the money. With the replacement pad, I can use the same curler for like, 3 years. As usual, after curling, I applied the Shiseido Nourishing Mascara Base and just another Japanese mascara in current rotation. For my brows, I’m trying out the Etude House Brow Color. I got this on eBay from a Korean seller.

La Mer Lip Balm & Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in “A-Lister”
To continue on the simple routine, I applied the La Mer Lip Balm before applying my newest favorite gloss by Benefit — “A-Lister.” Nothing compliments glowing skin more than dewy lips. It’s such a clean and fresh way to keep your makeup simple — all the while looking sophisticated. I like the effortless look, and it was perfect for such a dreary and rainy for days.

Face of the Week

Remember when I got the Urban Decay NAKED Basics Palette and I couldn’t stop using it because it was true love? Well, that routine went on for months and months — and, yes, there’s only so much you can do with the same palette and only 6 colors. Now, I’ve officially moved on after a little break from the Naked Basics Palette and my recent purchase of the Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes. It’s ALL about the LM palette now.

CHANEL Le Blanc Light Revealing Brightening Makeup Base & CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour
As usual with many of my face of the day routine, my base makeup is quite basic. I used the Le Blanc Light Revealing Brightening Makeup Base before applying some concealer. Then I dusted on some Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour in N10 to seal the deal. Beautiful finish — natural, glowy, and just pretty.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in “Vanilla”
My concealer of choice is still the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, and it’s great because of its creamy consistency and superb coverage. There’s really nothing more you can ask for in a concealer — sounds dramatic, I know. My shade in “Vanilla” is a great match and only a teeny tiny dot of product is all you need.

CHANEL Joues Contraste Powder Blush in “Espiegle”
A “shop my stash” find — I regrettably abandoned this blush so it hasn’t been in regular rotation. The silky texture is truly unique and will look so beautiful on the skin. I am re-obsessed with this and I’m reminded of how much I love Chanel blushes in general. Welcome back, old friend.

Benefit Ooh La Lift
For brightening the under eye area, I’m still relying on the Benefit Ooh La Lift to do the trick. I’ve noticed on days I don’t use this, I can tell! So, of course, with that said, this is an every day must for sure.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter
I haven’t used a Lip Butter in ages, so naturally, it was time to bust it out and put it back in rotation. A while back, I got the shade “Pink Lemonade” — not just because the name was cute — but because it’s a sheer, light pink shade that was pretty and hydrating. Originally, I wasn’t too happy with the Revlon Lip Butters because I felt that they made my lips flaky and appear dry even when they were not. But this shade seems to work for me.

Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes
Still the featured item on this post — the Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes 2013 as previously mentioned. I love playing with the colors and the versatility of this palette is the one of the reasons why it’s worth the money. I don’t have last year’s version and I’ve read on blogs that there are some duplicates in this palette. Personally, I’d prefer this palette over any of the Urban Decay Naked palettes.

Shiseido Nourishing Mascara Base & Shiseido Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Edge Meister Mascara
I’m back to using my beloved Shiseido Nourishing Mascara Base and I’ve missed it for sure. I swear, layering this base before ANY mascara will help your curl stay all day. And, the best part is tat it will keep your lashes hydrated and nourished so it doesn’t get dried out from curling your lashes every day and using heavy-duty mascara. My tube will last 6 months without looking gross, so while it’s expensive at $24.00 USD, it’s worth having it around. And, yes, I’m still using my random no-name Japanese brow pencil and I’m still really liking it for now.

Probably by next week, I’ll be in a foundation mood so stay tuned. And, as always, thanks for reading. :)

Full Face of the Day feat. the YSL Youth Liberator Serum Foundation

Many months ago, I promised to post a full face of the day including a picture of the whole look. Please keep in mind that I spend most of my days working in an academic setting, so I try to keep my makeup as natural and minimal as possible. Occasionally, I will experiment with various eyeshadows, but I try to keep it quite matte and neutral for professional reasons. Because I’m quite limited in creative freedom in the eye makeup department, I focus a lot on my base makeup more than anything else. I’m still on my YSL Youth Liberator Serum Foundation high, but I really wanted to feature its finish on camera.

YSL Youth Liberator Serum Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 in BR20
My favorite foundation right now for its coverage and luminosity. I admit the lingering scent of old-lady-baby-powder takes some getting used to, but I’m willing to deal with it because I like the foundation so much. The best part about this product is its pore-concealing abilities — my nose has never looked so smooth and poreless. No additional concealing is necessary with this foundation, and I skipped powder to keep my face looking glowy.

Benefit’s Benetint
I really appreciate how Benefit always releases collections with sample-sized items. You can read my review on the Benefit Cha Cha Tint, but Benetint is a rose-tinted cheek and lip stain that works for all occasions. I’ve been into tints lately, so it was nice to have sample sizes laying around for additional experimenting. You can also read about my other favorite tint — Benefit’s Posietint.

Benefit’s Ooh La Lift
For more brightening under the eye area, I’ve been using the Ooh La Lift to help my undereye look alive and awake. I didn’t a separate concealer per se, but this product was just as good with its “light-reflecting pigments and raspberry extract.” The balmy texture gave my eye an instant brightening boost that help complete my the base part of my makeup.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
While I did skip powdering my face because I wanted to really feature the foundation on its own, I did use the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder to dust over the Benefit Ooh La Lift to set it. This is a “lighter-than-air setting powder that adds an invisible lightening boost,” and helps to “create the appearance of the most naturally perfected skin, while maximizing the wear and coverage of makeup.” Even though Ooh La Lift does dry to matte finish, I used the LM Secret Brightening Powder to brighten, lighten, and boost luminosity. This powder is “formulated with light-reflecting micronized pigments, [and is a] super-soft weightless powder [that] delivers a soft radiant finish, [without] settling in fine lines, accentuating shadows, or building up on skin.”

NARS Brow Gel in “Kinshasa” & Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm
I kept it very simple with the brows and used NARS Brow Gel in “Kinshasa” to organize and keep my brow hairs in place. This product is richly pigmented to a few swipes will do the job beautifully. It’s super fast and easy. For lips, I kept it simple as well with Maybelline’s Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm to help moisturize my dry and chapped lips.

Tom Ford Ombre Eye Color in 01 “In the Pink”
Since lusting after this palette, I’ve been using it non-stop since receiving it in the mail. And, on that note, I’d like to praise Neiman Marcus for their easy-to-navigate-online-shopping website and their fast delivery service. The Tom Ford Beauty section is just to die for. The palette was used to create a natural, subtle, and barely-there look. I used Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil to smudge in the crease for some brown-definition.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in “Demolition”
I also used the same eyeliner to line my waterline and my lower lashline for some additional definition. These eyeliner are like permanent markers — it’s insane. While they do glide on smooth and effortlessly without tugging around the eye area, the liner stays put and does smudge, transfer, or come off. Also, they’re so pigmented and there’s a ton of colors to choose from.

Shiseido Majolica Majorca Lash Bone Black Fiber (Eyelash Mascara Base) & Shiseido Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Edge Meister Mascara BK999
And, finally, I used the Shiseido Majolica Majorca Lash Bone Black Fiber mascara base after curling my lashes (not pictured) and applied the hiseido Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Edge Meister Mascara in BK999 to finish the eye look. You can never go wrong with high-powered Japanese mascaras — they’re like steel. :)

What are you wearing this week?

This Week’s Face of the Day

Due to both external and internal stressors, I’ve had to invest a little bit more time to my morning routine to get me through the day. Even on days like this, radiance and naturalness are still my main skin-priorities. And, since I was short on time like most mornings, it was also important to use products that did multiple things at once — such as evening out skin tone and helping with pores, so my foundation can be applied sparingly.

Kanebo Kate Lasting Base Cover
Because I didn’t want a heavy foundation, I needed a good 2-in-1 product like the Kanebo Kate Lasting Base Cover primer all over my face. The skintone like shade blends seamlessly — allowing my skin to show through, but covering lines and pores at the same time. Also, uneven pigmentation was also taken care of with one application of this.

Becca Luminous Skin Colour Ultra Sheer Foundation SPF 25+ in “Porcelain”
After base application, I applied the Becca Luminous Skin Colour Ultra Sheer Foundation SPF 25+ in “Porcelain” to my cheeks, forehead, and chin — applying only a thin layer. This product is extremely sheer and translucent anyway, but I wanted it be layered lightly since it’s still hot outside in Texas. Normally, this product applied alone works fine for me. But on days I need more coverage but I don’t want to apply a traditional foundation, this is a great option.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in “Vanilla”
I still needed some extra help around the my nose and some redness/spots on my face, so I used the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in “Vanilla” to conceal those areas. Surprisingly, a little bit of this product goes a long way, and it blends and stays — which, in my experience, is rare with liquid concealers since I also manage to blend it away and am left with no coverage. The slight pink tone of “Vanilla” helps cancel out additional pigmentation on my face.

NYX Cream Blush in “Boho Chic”
A review on this cream blush by NYX is coming soon, but I just had to jump the gun because I’m in love with the formula. Normally, when I’m in a cream blush mood, I automatically reach for the Illamasqua Cream Blusher in “Promise,” but I’ve been really into the NYX cream blush lately. The texture and formula are very similar, but the NYX one is $6.99 USD. Holla. :)

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in “Moonstone”
My current go-to highlighter is still the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in “Moonstone,” but it won’t be for much longer. I’m considering switching things up and using my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks next week for some extra oomph.

Benefit Gimme Brow (Medium/Deep)
My main brow product is the Benefit Gimme Brow (Medium/Deep), and I even gave it some more praise when I wrote about my 9-month Eyebrowh Regrowth Update. This product is still going strong, but I fear that it’s already beginning to dry out. It’s only been a few weeks so I’m a little disappointed. I’ll report back if it craps out on me!

La Roche Posay Ceralip
The La Roche Posay Ceralip is an amazing lip product. Normally, I wear it at night so that I can wake up with smooth and soft lips. Occassionally, when my lips really need it, I’ll apply it during my day — usually, with no additional lip color.
