I know recently that I wrote about the Benefit Gimme Brow and gave it high praises in my 9-month Eyebrow Regrowth Update. Sadly, I think I’ll have to take back my rave review because the product has already dried out. And, given that the product is teeny tiny for $22.00, I don’t think I will be saying that it is an item that I’ll be re-purchasing. While my post regarding various eyebrow mascaras is still beneficial, I’ve moved onto the newest NARS product released — the NARS Brow Gel.
As a way to “tame, tidy and effortlessly refine the look of your brows,” this brow gel is glossy and volumizing — much like the Benefit Gimme Brow. The gel formula makes the product easy to work with as it glides onto my fine and spares eyebrow hairs. Also, the “tapered design of its accompanying brush adds shape and definition to every angle while giving you a fuller, smoother brow look.” Again, not as crunchy as the Anastasia Brow Gel and not as shiny as the MAC Brow Set, the NARS Brow Gel is smoother and more malleable, for sure.
The tapered brush is helpful so that the thin part of the tip applies less color onto the front of my brows, while the fuller part of the brush delivers more product towards the ends of my brows. The finish is put-together and natural. Also, it’s best to note that the pigmentation of this product is amazing — it’s pigmented enough to make a difference between applying the color and not; yet, it’s not so much that your brows look drawn on.
My shade is “Kinshasa,” which I believe, is the darkest shade available. It’s too bad that there isn’t a gray-tone or gray-black shade for gals with black hair. “Kinshasa” is a medium-brown/dark-brown tone that fits my brow hairs perfectly. NARS released eyebrow pencils as well, although I didn’t purchase one because I have so many already. One other highlight of this product is that the formula is thick enough to adhere to brow hairs, but not so much so it’s not gloopy and messy when applying. However, it’s best to wipe off the excess product on the brush before applying. While the concept of “eyebrow mascaras” is not new, I recommend the NARS Brow Gel. I think a product like this is perfect for every day, and for those who are interested in achieving a natural brow look (and not drawn on or shaded).
